Work Experience:  In summer of 2013 I completed an extensive TEFL program where I spent many hours volunteering to teach ESL courses.   I began teaching in Yushan in Jiangxi Province in September 2013.  I feel I have learned a great deal in regards to the education system in China.  In my experience I have learned that the students enjoy a teaching style that is very different from their Chinese teachers.  Since my class focuses on oral English there is very limited homework and memorization.  I encourage the students to speak openly in class and they are rewarded for class participation.  We often play games in class and the students feel more confident to practice oral English in a relaxed atmosphere.  Many times during class I will also have free talk where the students can interact with me and practice their conversational English.  Throughout the semester I test the students one on one and it gives me a good example of what areas I need to focus on during the school year.  I have seen a vast improvement of their spoken English in many students.  My experience teaching in China has been a very positive one and I hope to continue being a part of the Chinese education system.
