Work Experience:In the past year I have gained a lot of experience in teaching middle school age children and have learned a lot about what does and does not work in large classrooms of 60 students. I’ve found the main thing in teaching oral English is creating a relaxed classroom atmosphere where the students feel comfortable practicing the skills they have learned in my class and in their Chinese teacher’s classrooms.  My teaching style is very different from Chinese teachers, which the students find exciting and engaging. We play many games in class and work a lot on pronunciation and speaking with confidence. Confidence really is important when learning a new language and I praise the students as often as I can on their accomplishments and encourage them to not be shy. When you are learning a new language you are bound to make mistakes but they are easy to address with a little constructive criticism. I test my students one on one many times throughout the year and have seen them improve greatly since the beginning. I always enjoy evaluating their progress and mine during testing and make adjustments to my teaching methods whenever necessary.
